Hills East and West Receive Awards

Student-athletes from Half Hollow Hills Central School District were recognized this week at the National Football Foundation Jim Metzger Chapter Brunch, celebrating excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

Representatives from Half Hollow Hills East Thunderbirds and Half Hollow Hills West Colts were among those honored during the special gathering, which recognizes some of the top football talent and student leadership across the region.

Named Scholar-Athletes were Jake Pagliaro from Hills East and Luke Taff from Hills West. The Scholar-Athlete honor is awarded to students who demonstrate strong performance in academics while also contributing as athletes and leaders within their school communities.

The event also recognized former Hills East standout Anthony Zito with the Distinguished American Award. The honor celebrates individuals whose achievements, leadership, and service have made a lasting impact beyond their playing days.

In addition, a talented group of Hills players was honored as the Best Offensive Line in Suffolk County, recognizing the strength, toughness, and teamwork that helped power a successful season. Offensive linemen are often the unsung heroes of football, making this award one of the sport’s most respected honors.

Those recognized were Trevon Cole-Jenkins, Keith McDowell, Alex McDowell, Sebastian Damis, Alejandro Gonzalez, Chase McCoy, Tony Keahey, Dante Milano, and Michai Crump.

It was a proud week for the Hills community, showcasing both athletic excellence and academic achievement.
