The William Floyd Colonials girls lacrosse team has caught fire offensively and now rides a three-game winning streak after a slow start to the season.

Things did not begin ideally for the Colonials, who opened the year with an 0-2 record. Since then, however, William Floyd has completely turned things around and emerged as one of the most dangerous offensive teams in Suffolk County.

The Colonials have scored an impressive 41 goals during their last three games, including 31 goals over their last two contests alone. With the attack clicking at a high level, William Floyd has quickly become one of the hottest teams in the county.

Leading the way has been Emma DiMaio, who has been outstanding this season. DiMaio has totaled 16 goals and 14 assists, placing her third overall in Suffolk County in total points. Her ability to both score and distribute has made her one of the area’s most complete offensive players.

Riley Meyer has also been a major contributor, ranking among the county leaders with 16 goals of her own. Ava Tiedemann has matched that total with 16 goals as well, giving the Colonials multiple scoring threats every time they take the field.

The playmaking has been just as important. Rylie Weigand currently ranks fourth overall in Suffolk County with 16 assists, while DiMaio’s 14 assists place her close behind among the leaders.

While the offense has stolen the spotlight, strong goaltending has also helped fuel the recent success. Julia Hipperling has made 24 saves this season and was especially sharp in the team’s last game, allowing just one goal.

After an early stumble, the Colonials have found their rhythm in a big way. With a balanced offense, standout individual performances, and steady play in net, William Floyd looks like a team gaining momentum as the season moves forward.
