American Soccer Club-New York has announced the re-signing of midfielder Dylan Lopez to a one-year deal for the 2026 National Premier Soccer League season, bringing back one of the club’s promising young talents.

Lopez, who joined the Fighting Tomcats last season as a 16-year-old, returns for another summer after gaining valuable experience during the 2025 campaign.

“I’m extremely excited to re-sign with American Soccer Club-New York,” Lopez said. “I am very grateful to be in this type of environment to grow as both a person and a player. My expectations are always high—I want to win every game we play and be a factor in the team’s success.”

A Ronkonkoma native, Lopez began his soccer journey alongside his twin brother at St. Joseph’s CYO before continuing his development with the Lake Grove-Newfield Soccer Club, now known as Atlantic United FC. He also played at Connetquot High School and is set to graduate this June.

Head coach John Fitzgerald praised Lopez’s growth since first joining the team midseason last year.

“Dylan came in as a young prospect and immediately impressed our staff,” Fitzgerald said. “He earned opportunities to feature for us, which was a great accomplishment at 16. Now, he’s more experienced and continues to show maturity and patience. We’re excited to have him back.”

Managing Partner and General Manager Jim Kilmeade echoed that sentiment, highlighting Lopez’s development within the club.

“Dylan’s progression is a testament to his work ethic and the environment our staff has created,” Kilmeade said. “His journey reflects what our club is all about—developing young players and giving them opportunities to succeed.”

While Lopez saw limited action in 2025, he embraced the team culture and used the experience as a stepping stone.

“Everyone shares the same goal of winning,” Lopez added. “It’s a great feeling to be part of a team where everyone supports each other.”

With another year under his belt, Lopez will look to take the next step in his development in 2026.
