Thanks to the generosity of Jake’s 58 Casino patrons, the North Shore Youth Council received a donation of $11,374.08 through the casino’s monthly “Donate Your Change” program.

“We are an alternative to risky behavior that youth may participate in,” says NYSYC Executive Director Robert Woods of the organization that provides services from Shoreham-Wading River to Mount Sinai to youth, families, parents, and seniors. “We provide safe spaces that are designed and led by youth.”

Suffolk County Legislator Chad Lennon is a big advocate of NSYC. He has long supported the organization and is excited about the collaboration between NSYC and Jake’s 58.

“I am happy that Jake’s 58 Casino Hotel is partnering with this and other worthwhile organizations through its Donate Your Change program,” Lennon said. “It is a great way for them to get the word out. Their willingness to be part of the community is exemplified by Jake’s 58’s support of this program.” North Shore Youth Council helps more than 10,000 annually.

“We are truly grateful to President & CEO Phil Boyle and the patrons of Jake’s 58 for their financial assistance. We plan to put the donation to the best effect for those we serve,” says Woods, who was a client of the organization when he was 5 years old. “It has been lovely to come back and help the organization that helped me.”

In addition to providing before- and after-school programs, North Shore Youth Council offers classes for parents, opportunities for seniors, and family activities. These are offered at multiple locations.

“It is such a privilege for Jake’s 58 Casino to support the important work being done by the North Shore Youth Council and to thank them for their decades of service to our community,” Boyle said. “We truly appreciate the generosity of our casino patrons who make Long Island a better place through their participation in our Donate Your Change program each month.”
