An Early No Hitter for Cogliano

The season may just be getting underway for Suffolk County baseball teams, but Smithtown East Bulls already have a highlight to remember.

Pitcher Dylan Cogliano delivered a dominant performance this past week, throwing a no-hitter in an 11-0 road victory over Newfield Wolverines. Cogliano was in complete control on the mound, striking out seven batters and keeping Newfield off the bases throughout the game.

The Bulls backed their ace with a strong offensive showing. Jack DeRosa led the way, going 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while Mason Nasta added a 2-for-4 performance with two RBIs. Dominic Suppa also contributed in a big way, finishing 3-for-4 with three RBIs to help fuel the 11-run outburst.

Cogliano, who has committed to Virginia Wesleyan University, has established himself as one of the top pitchers on Long Island. The right-hander features a fastball in the low-to-mid 80s and relies heavily on a sharp slider as his out pitch, making him a tough matchup for opposing hitters.

This early-season performance is another example of his ability to dominate on the mound and set the tone for his team. With strong pitching and timely hitting, Smithtown East is showing signs of being a team to watch this spring.

The Bulls will look to carry that momentum into their upcoming series against Copiague Eagles before turning their attention to a rivalry matchup with Smithtown West Bulls.

If this performance is any indication, Smithtown East is off to a fast start—and already making noise early in the season.
