Long Island made a strong statement on the state stage this past week, capturing both the boys and girls Division I titles at the New York State bowling championships. The victories by Commack boys bowling team and East Islip girls bowling team showcased the depth and dominance of Suffolk County bowling programs.

The Commack boys team earned the state championship by rolling a combined total of 6,503 pins in an impressive team performance. The Cougars entered the tournament with momentum after winning the Suffolk County title and carried that success into the state competition. Along the way, they defeated defending champion East Islip boys bowling team to advance, highlighting their ability to compete against the top teams in New York.

While East Islip fell short on the boys side, the program responded in a big way in the girls competition. The East Islip girls bowling team captured the Division I state title, marking the program’s first championship in 12 years. The victory was the culmination of another outstanding season for the team, which has been one of the most consistent programs in the region.

The Redmen entered the state tournament as three-time defending Suffolk County champions and continued to build on that success at the highest level. They finished with a combined total of 5,637 pins, securing the state title and capping off a remarkable run.

Together, the championships highlight Long Island’s continued excellence in high school bowling. With both the boys and girls Division I titles returning to Suffolk County, the performances by Commack and East Islip reinforce the region’s reputation as one of the premier areas for bowling in New York.

For both programs, the victories represent not only championship success but also the result of dedication, teamwork, and a commitment to excellence throughout the season.
