Heyman Wins Offensive Player of the Year

Standout student-athlete Samantha Heyman of Half Hollow Hills High School East has been named the Class A New York State Flag Football Offensive Player of the Year for the 2025 season by the New York State High School Football Coaches Association.

Heyman’s recognition highlights an exceptional season in which she established herself as one of the premier offensive players in the state. Known for her leadership and playmaking ability, she played a key role in the success of the Hills East program throughout the year.

The honors did not stop there for Half Hollow Hills East. Head coach Michael Lupa was also recognized as the Class A New York State Flag Football Coach of the Year. Lupa’s leadership helped guide the team to a standout season, further solidifying the program’s reputation as one of the top flag football teams in New York.

Earlier this season, Heyman also received the prestigious News 12 Scholar Athlete Award, sponsored by FourLeaf Federal Credit Union. The award recognizes student-athletes who excel both on the field and in the classroom, underscoring Heyman’s commitment to academics as well as athletics.

Beyond flag football, Heyman has distinguished herself as a multi-sport athlete. She serves as a captain across three different sports, demonstrating her leadership and versatility throughout the school’s athletic programs. In addition, she is an all-state doubles tennis player and has contributed to multiple county team championships during her career.

Heyman’s accomplishments reflect not only individual excellence but also the strength of the athletic programs at Half Hollow Hills East. With both a Player of the Year and Coach of the Year honor, the school has enjoyed a banner year in flag football.

As she continues her high school career, Heyman’s impact extends beyond statistics, serving as a role model for younger athletes and a leader within her school community. Her recognition at the state level further cements her status as one of the top student-athletes in New York.
