Sachem East student leads art therapy kit donation for seniors

Aishwarya Kammili, a junior at Sachem East High School, organized a community outreach project through her nonprofit organization, Art4Hearts. The initiative resulted in the donation of over 200 art therapy kits to The Bristal Assisted Living facility in Holtsville.

The effort was supported by members of Sachem East’s Math and English Honor Societies. Each member contributed coloring books and art supplies, which were used to assemble the kits. These were then distributed as Christmas gifts to seniors living on Long Island.

Kammili described the impact of the project, stating, “The best part of this opportunity was seeing the smiles we were able to create and feeling the joy throughout the Bristal in that moment. It was incredibly meaningful to witness that happiness firsthand, and it reminded all of us how important it is that everyone has the chance to feel that kind of joy in their lives.”

She also acknowledged those who helped make the project possible: “I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Math Honor Society advisor, Mrs. Albino, and our English Honor Society advisors, Mr. Wrightson and Mr. Troise. I am beyond grateful to every member who donated and volunteered their time at the Bristal - this project would not have been possible without their generosity and compassion.”
