The ACLD Foundation will host its 8th Annual Poker for a Purpose Poker and Casino Event on Thursday, February 26th, at The Fox Hollow in Woodbury, bringing together community leaders, supporters and friends for an evening of poker, casino-style gaming, a cigar and bourbon experience, and more, all to benefit adults with learning and developmental disabilities.
This year’s event honors Dave Compitello and SERVPRO of Huntington. Compitello, who owns the business with his wife, Brittnie, has spent the past 15 years helping homeowners and businesses recover from fire, water and mold damage, while also providing construction and restoration services. The Compitello family and their dedicated SERVPRO team are committed supporters of the fundraiser and ACLD’s mission.
Proceeds from the event will support ACLD’s Residential Vacation Fund, which provides adults in ACLD’s Residential Program the opportunity to enjoy annual vacations with the supports necessary to ensure safe, meaningful and memorable experiences. Since its inception, Poker for a Purpose has helped make travel and recreation possible for countless individuals, fostering independence, friendship and joy. Past outings have included Broadway shows such as “Riverdance,” “Boop!” and “Aladdin,” along with trips to Rocking Horse Ranch, Cape May, Washington, D.C., and other destinations.
“Poker for a Purpose isn’t just a fun night out,” said Ben Cooper, chair of the event committee. “It’s an opportunity to give the people supported in ACLD’s residential services the chance to explore, make memories and experience the joys of traveling.”
