The Miller Place School District recently held a National Letter of Intent signing ceremony to honor thirteen exceptional student-athletes who will continue their athletic and academic careers at the collegiate level after graduation. This special event celebrated years of dedication, hard work, and commitment both inside and outside the classroom. Each student-athlete proudly wore a sweatshirt displaying the logo of the college or university they will soon attend, symbolizing the next exciting chapter in their academic and athletic journeys. Families, coaches, teammates, and district administrators gathered to applaud their accomplishments and offer support as they prepare for the future.

Those recognized at the ceremony were: Olivia Giacchetto (University of New Haven, Field Hockey); Alyssa Casalinuovo (Pace University, Swimming); John Casalinuovo (Iona University, Swimming); Jacob Marcario (Mercy University, Baseball); Robert John Kalin (Fairfield University, Rowing); Laney Vomero (Stony Brook University, Softball); Alexa Shivers (SUNY Oneonta, Lacrosse); Zoe Weisman (Pace University, Lacrosse); Stella Musso (Pace University, Field Hockey); Savannah Musso (Springfield College, Gymnastics); Giulia Francese (Adelphi University, Field Hockey); Paige Reitan (Illinois State University, Gymnastics); and Emma Davieds (SUNY Cortland, Field Hockey).

The ceremony highlighted not only the athletic talents of these impressive young men and women but also their dedication to their academic pursuits. For many of these students, the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level is the culmination of years of training, early mornings, late nights, and unwavering perseverance. Their achievements reflect the strong athletic programs within the Miller Place School District, as well as the support provided by coaches, teachers, and families who have guided them along the way.

The district extends its congratulations to all thirteen student-athletes and wishes them continued success as they move forward into this exciting new stage of their academic and athletic careers.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
