The last days of the baseball season are upon us, as are the last days of fantasy baseball.
That means there are few chances to make that late push before the title is either yours or a league mates, and even fewer chances of striking gold on the waiver wire.
One name however can really help those pitching needy teams as the clock winds down to the end of the season. Stephen Kolak has virtually fell through the cracks and in most leagues is still available on waivers. This is the type of pickup, in a two-start week, that might get you to the pot of gold, or your league championship.
Kolak pitched for the Padres earlier in the season and now he dons a Royals jersey, and his effectiveness has only gone up. That outstanding pitching was on full display in his last start when he spun a gem. Kolak went 7 1/2 innings, allowing just 2 hits, 1 run, and added 8 strikeouts. That is an ace-like start.
Kolak has been doing that for some time now. Since coming over from the Padres on August 30th he now has allowed just 5 runs to score on him in 27 innings. That's good for under a 1.50 ERA. His stat line also comes with an excellent walk rate, only allowing 3 walks since coming over, and he has yet to allow a home run in a KC uniform.
Kolak also looked good before coming to the Royals with an overall 3.54 ERA, but now he's logging innings and has found a new home. If you're digging for gold Kolak is the find that can put you into the money by season's end.
