The William Floyd girls’ varsity volleyball team is preparing for the 2025 fall season with renewed focus, following a previous year in which they did not reach their playoff objective. Head coach Matthew Van Horne said the experience has given players additional motivation as they look ahead to the new season.

The Colonials participated in offseason training sessions and camps to get ready for what they hope will be a successful playoff run this year. The squad features several returning athletes, including senior Claira Parente, who was named a 2024 All-Classification honoree and serves as co-captain and libero. Senior Helen Lin returns as an outside hitter and co-captain. Coach Van Horne also mentioned senior middle blocker Kamiyah Rose, junior defensive specialist Jessica Sambriski, and junior setter London Barnes as key contributors for the team.

The Colonials opened their season on September 3 with a road win against Brentwood. Their home opener is scheduled for September 12 against Riverhead.

"Best of luck to all of the student-athletes and their coaches in their mission to make the playoffs!"
