Last year sports bettors were able to jump on the anti-Chicago White Sox bandwagon early and they kept firing against the worst team in league history over and over thinking we'd never see something like this again. Well, we are here, and we are witnessing, not only something similar, but there is a team even worse than the White Sox last season so far.
The Colorado Rockies are as dreadful as a team as you can imagine and bettors who have been just blindly betting against them have been rewarded handsomely. The White Sox set the all-time mark last year with 121 losses compared to just 41 wins. That was a pace we thought we'd never see again, but as we now pass the 40-game mark the Rockies are looking worse.
Colorado has just 7 wins in their first 40 games of the year. To put that into perspective the White Sox had 12 wins after their first 40 games. If you can imagine that is nearly double the wins that the Rockies have, from the worst team of all time. Now let's dig in even deeper where we see the Rockies with a -134-run differential compared to that Sox team that sat at just -85. Not only is that worse, but it's significantly worse. The team ERA for the boys from Coors sit at 5.89, where the Sox had a 4.75 ERA, while team OPS were nearly identical.
For sports bettors not only is it wise to bet against the Rockies but also take a look at the run line. Colorado isn't even close in these games. They have not only lost 33 games, but they have failed to be within one run in all but 6 of those losses. While you might not believe it this team is actually on pace to be significantly worse than the all-time worst White Sox and they are getting blown out nightly. They are the gift that keeps on giving and we shouldn't expect much change until major moves are made to correct course on their part.
