The William Floyd girls’ varsity lacrosse team showed the crowd that was gathered for senior night an emotional and exciting win this week.
The team, led by head coach Nicole Alesi, picked up a 11-9 win over Bay Shore on senior night. The Colonials were behind most of the game and had a furious comeback to send everyone home happy. After digging themselves and early hole they came back and only trailed by one going into the half. Whatever coach Alesi said to inspire the team in the locker room certainly resonated as they came out of halftime like a team on fire scoring four goals in a row and never looked back again.
Senior Madison Widecki led the way for the Colonials with a game-high three goals and four points while Rylie Wiegand and Emma DiMaio added two goals and an assist each. Additionally, Ava Tiedemann and Jayla Pimentel scored two goals each while Riley Meyer recorded one assist.
The Colonials improved to a 6-4 overall record and a 6-2 Division I record with the win.
Before the game, the Colonials held their annual senior night celebration for their three graduating seniors. Congratulations to Mia Cassarino, Madison Widecki and Andie Will.
