Agostino Keeps The Family Tradition of Winning Going

Smithtown High School West basketball head coach Mike Agostino has joined some elite company.

Agostino earned his 200th career win this past week. Agostino has been coaching at the school for 13 seasons and the school celebrated this huge accomplishment.

Agostino told the district that “It only happens because I have had a bunch of really good players over the years".

He comes from a long line of great coaches. His brother Jack has coached for more than 25 seasons at Amityville. While there he won close to 500 games and is one of only three coaches in New York history to win four consecutive state titles.

His other brother Chris coached more than a decade at Harborfields. He has a state championship under his belt as well.

In March Agostino was also part of some more history when he coached the first ever girls flag football team.

Record Setting Maggie McCormick Competes at Nationals

The Bay Shore Schools Board of Education recently recognized and congratulated girls varsity cross country standout Maggie McCormick for her outstanding achievements on the track and on the national stage. McCormick, who has committed to the University of Florida, was honored for her performance at the Nike Cross Country Nationals, one of the most prestigious high school running events in the country.

The Long Island Ducks have announced the team’s first signing of 2026, welcoming Major League veteran outfielder Jacob Robson. Robson will begin his first season with the Ducks, his second in the Atlantic League, and his 10th season in professional baseball.
