William Floyd bowling team advances to county championship for fifteenth year

The William Floyd High School varsity bowling team, led by head coach James Healey, has qualified for the Suffolk County Championship for the 15th consecutive year. The Colonials ended their regular season with a strong 12-2 record and will compete in the county championship on February 8 at Bowlero in Sayville.

Nicholas Powers achieved All-County honors by finishing 12th overall in Suffolk County. He maintained a 215.57 average, with a high series of 729 and a high game of 268. His individual record was second in League 2 with 33 wins and 10 losses. At the High School Individual Tournament, Nicholas finished with a series of 656 and a high game of 278, placing him tenth overall in Suffolk County.

The team includes members Trinity Field, Nicholas Powers, Austin Matz, Janelle Ramoska, Gino Conforti, and Colin Smith. Trinity Field was the only senior this year and left a significant impact during her six-year tenure. She ranked 12th among female bowlers in Suffolk County with an average of 180.69, a high series of 636, and a high game of 256. Her record earned her All-League honors.

In January's Singles/Doubles Tournament at East Islip Lanes, Trinity achieved second place in the Singles “B” division with scores of 204, 268, and 257 (729 series). The doubles team of Trinity Field and Janelle Ramoska won the “B” division championship.

Austin Matz completed his season with an average of 178.79; Colin Smith had an average of 170.79; Gino Conforti averaged at 175.38; Janelle Ramoska concluded her season averaging at163.

Future prospects include Devin Scalice, Leo Lombardo, Tristan Ng, Muhammad Umair, and Aaniyah Johnson to help maintain their standing in League II next season.

Additionally, Trinity Field along with Nicholas Powers, Gino Conforti and Colin Smith placed second at the New York State USBC Youth Championship Tournament advancing to state finals on May3in Syracuse.
