The tradition of William Floyd High School dominance continues as the Colonials will finish the year at 7-1 following a 14-9 victory over the Commack Cougars over the weekend.

The Colonials victory also secured the Suffolk County Division 1 and Big 4 Championships, slightly edging out Sachem North and Ward Melvile who both finished the regular season at 6-2.

Along with winning the two regular season titles, this gives the Colonials the top seed in the upcoming Division 1 Playoffs and guarantees them home field advantage before the games move to an alternate and neutral site for the County and Long Island Championships.

The star of the game for the Colonials was Jason Pratt who had rushed for 155 yards and a touchdown on 26 carries for Floyd on the road against the Cougars.

Quarterback AJ Cannet had a solid day as he threw for 177 yards and connected with Josh Jordan for a 52-yard touchdown pass in this contest. Jordan also had himself a day as he caught three passes for 79 yards.

Defensively, the Colonials were able to keep the potent Commack offense out of the end zone as the only Cougar points scored were on field goals by Ryan Wald in the first three quarters of the game.

Javon Delaney was the star for the Colonials on defense as he finished with seven tackles (two for a loss) and had an interception in the fourth quarter.

The top seeded Colonials will be back in action on November 4th as they will take on the low seeded Sachem East Flaming Arrows in the first round of the Division 1 playoff.
