Sachem Softball Reigns Supreme

Olivia DeRose has pitched to a championship level all season long and this weekend she led Sachem East to the Class AAA Section XI Softball Championship.

DeRose pitched a four hitter in the victory and also struck out her 500th batter along the way. North Babylon tried to mount a comeback late in the game and DeRose thrived under the pressure.North Babylon put the first two batters on base and when DeRose peered in she bore down. She struck out the next batter in overwhelming fashion and then got out of the jam and out of the game with the W.

With the win Sachem East are crowned champions for the first county title in program history, ending the season with a 19-4 record. They will now face off for the Long Island championship game this Friday.

Record Setting Maggie McCormick Competes at Nationals

The Bay Shore Schools Board of Education recently recognized and congratulated girls varsity cross country standout Maggie McCormick for her outstanding achievements on the track and on the national stage. McCormick, who has committed to the University of Florida, was honored for her performance at the Nike Cross Country Nationals, one of the most prestigious high school running events in the country.
