Suffolk Champs Now Eye The State's

The Eastport-South manor boys' track team just kept on racking up accolades for the season and now it's onto the state championships.

This season the varsity boys track team won the title of undefeated League Champions.On their way to the championship they set records as well. Team member Sean O’Neill set the record in the 4x800 at St. Anthony High School’s Icahn Stadium earlier this season, while the 4x800 relay team with Justin Albanese, Cooper Nedvin, Sean O’Neill and Paul Zorn clinched the school record.

Now, Justin Albanese, Cooper Nedvin, Sean O’Neill and Paul Zorn have all qualified in the 4 X 8 relay to compete in the New York State Championships, which will be held at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.

Equally successful was the girls 4x100 relay team with Layla Bloxon, Sophia Colavito, Melva Contreras and Brooke Keitel. The girls also set a school record this season.

William Floyd sisters earn All-State honors

William Floyd High School juniors Anabel Van Cott and Lydia Van Cott, under the leadership of two-time USTA Coach of the Year Dave Pia, earned All-State honors after finishing second in the Suffolk County Doubles Tournament held at Smithtown East on October 18–19.
