Brooklyn man found guilty of second-degree murder for shooting during attempted robbery
Basheer Vinson, 29, of Brooklyn, has been found guilty of second-degree murder and other charges in connection with a 2020 attempted robbery and shooting that resulted in the death of Mark Birthwright, 26, of Bay Shore. The verdict was announced by Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney following a jury trial.

This action resulted in the theft of over $1.3 million in sales tax from New York State.

Matthew Dickson, 44, of Dix Hills and the former Vice President and President of the Dix Hills Soccer Club, pleaded guilty to Petit Larceny for embezzling over $70,000 from the club in 2022. Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney made the announcement on September 6, 2024.

Johnson, 63, of Huntington, pleaded guilty to Grand Larceny in the Fourth Degree for stealing more than $56,000 of his mother’s public pension payments following her death in April 2021.
