The Rocky Point High School tennis program had plenty to celebrate this past week as several Eagles student-athletes and their coach were recognized at the Suffolk County Tennis Coaches Association Awards Dinner.
The event honored some of Suffolk County’s top tennis players and coaches for their achievements throughout the season, and Rocky Point was well represented among the award winners. Eagles student-athletes earned recognition through All-Conference and All-State selections, highlighting the team's success and the hard work that helped make it possible.
The awards served as a fitting conclusion to another strong season for the Rocky Point tennis program. Players were recognized not only for their accomplishments on the court but also for the dedication, commitment and perseverance they demonstrated throughout the year.
Adding to the celebration was the recognition of longtime coach Jim Buonconsiglio, who was named Conference Coach of the Year by the Suffolk County Tennis Coaches Association. The prestigious honor reflects the impact he has had on the Rocky Point program and the success his teams have enjoyed under his leadership.
The Rocky Point School District praised Buonconsiglio for his contributions to the program and the student-athletes he coaches.
“This well-deserved honor recognizes his leadership, commitment and dedication to the Rocky Point tennis program,” the district said in a statement.
Buonconsiglio has helped build a culture of excellence within the Eagles tennis program, guiding student-athletes to success both on and off the court. His recognition as Conference Coach of the Year is a testament to the respect he has earned from fellow coaches throughout Suffolk County.
For the student-athletes, the All-Conference and All-State honors are the result of countless hours of practice, determination and teamwork. Their accomplishments brought pride to the Rocky Point community and showcased the strength of the school’s tennis program.
As the season comes to a close, the awards provide an opportunity to celebrate a memorable year for the Eagles and recognize the players and coaches who helped make it a successful one.
