The accolades continue to pour in for the Sachem North boys lacrosse team after one of the most memorable seasons in program history.
This week, the Arrows received another prestigious honor when they were named the 2026 Founders Cup champions. The award is presented annually to the top boys lacrosse team in Suffolk County, recognizing the county's highest-ranked squad.
The distinction was a fitting end to a remarkable season for Sachem North. The Arrows captured their first Suffolk County championship since 1995 and earned the Founders Cup after defeating top-seeded Northport to cement their place atop the county standings.
“To be recognized as the best team in Suffolk County, which is widely regarded as the premier public school lacrosse region in the country, is a tremendous accomplishment,” Sachem North head coach Anthony Muratore said. “It is a reflection of all the hard work our players, coaches and parents have put in throughout the season.”
Sachem North finished the year with an impressive 16-4 record and added the prestigious Founders Cup to a season that will be remembered for years to come.
The championship run marked the program's first county title in more than three decades and reestablished the Arrows as one of the elite programs on Long Island. Along the way, Sachem North overcame some of the toughest competition in the nation, a testament to the team's dedication and resilience.
With a county championship trophy and now the Founders Cup to its name, the 2026 squad has secured its place among the greatest teams in school history.
For the players, coaches and the entire Sachem community, this season was about more than wins and losses. It was about restoring a proud tradition and bringing another championship banner home to Lake Ronkonkoma.
