Some of Suffolk County's finest student-athletes were recognized recently at the 26th Annual Butch Dellecave Awards, held at Villa Lombardi's in Holbrook.

Named in memory of the late Gaetano "Butch" Dellecave — a legendary educator, coach and official. The program has enjoyed a 26-year partnership with Suffolk County school districts and celebrates seniors who have excelled in athletics, academics and community service.

Each high school in Suffolk County is invited to nominate one male and one female senior. The honor recognizes students who have distinguished themselves not only through athletic accomplishments but also through academic excellence and meaningful civic involvement.

"The Dellecave Awards shine a spotlight on exceptional graduating seniors from across Suffolk County," said Adrian Fassett, President and CEO of the Economic Opportunity Council of Suffolk. "These nominees have distinguished themselves through athletic excellence, academic commitment and service to others. We are proud to help celebrate their achievements and the promise they hold as future leaders in our communities."

Among the local athletes receiving nominations were Bellport seniors Meghan Joan Maragioglio and Elie Malcom. Center Moriches was represented by Laila Cole and Luke Rebore-Costanzo, while Eastport-South Manor honored Layla Bloxon and Brady McGowan.

Longwood's nominees were Sarah Vrljicak and Kaden Reid. Patchogue-Medford recognized Addison Ruland and Evan Fraser, and William Floyd was represented by standout seniors Emma DiMaio and Ja'Quan Thomas.

The annual awards ceremony continues to celebrate the best of Suffolk County high school athletics while recognizing the hard work, dedication and leadership these young men and women have demonstrated both on and off the field.

For the honorees, the evening served as a fitting tribute to years of excellence and a bright future ahead.
