The Ward Melville varsity softball team continued a meaningful tradition this past week, hosting its annual charity game in support of the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
The event, which has become a staple for the program, once again brought together players, families, and community members for a cause that extends far beyond the field. Each year, the team selects a charity to support, and this year’s efforts were dedicated to helping families in need through the Ronald McDonald House.
Thanks to the generosity and hard work of everyone involved, the team has raised an impressive $10,100 so far this year. That total pushes the program’s six-year fundraising effort to nearly $40,000, a remarkable achievement that reflects the consistency and commitment behind the annual event.
Proceeds from this year’s game will contribute to the construction of a new Ronald McDonald House in Stony Brook, which will provide comfort, support, and a place to stay for families with children receiving medical care. The impact of the fundraiser will be felt by many families throughout the region.
Ward Melville’s social media account praised the collective effort, stating, “This achievement reflects the team’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to making a meaningful impact. Thank you to our softball players, coaches, parents, community members, and local businesses.”
The appreciation extended to everyone who played a role in making the event a success, from those who organized and participated to those who contributed donations and support.
Adding to an already special day, the Ward Melville softball team also came away with a victory on the field, putting a fitting finish on an event centered around teamwork and community spirit.
As the program continues this annual tradition, its impact continues to grow—proving that success can be measured not only in wins, but in the difference made off the field as well.
