The Sachem community is celebrating a night of recognition and pride, as several of its own were honored at the annual Suffolk County Wrestling Coaches Association dinner.

The event brought together coaches, administrators, and media members from across the county to recognize outstanding contributions to athletics, education, and student storytelling. Sachem stood out in a big way, earning multiple awards that reflect the strength and dedication of its programs.

Leading the honorees was Anthony Marino, head wrestling coach at Sachem North, who was named Suffolk County Division I Coach of the Year. Marino has been instrumental in building a competitive and respected program, and this recognition highlights his leadership, commitment, and success on the mat.

Also recognized was Pat Burke, who earned Administrator of the Year honors. As principal of Sachem North, Burke has been a strong supporter of student-athletes and extracurricular programs, helping to foster an environment where students can thrive both academically and athletically.

In addition, Chris R. Vaccaro, General Manager and Pro-in-Residence of 91.9 FM WSHR, was named the Andy Slawson News Person of the Year. Vaccaro’s work in student media and broadcasting has provided countless opportunities for young storytellers to develop their skills and share the stories of local athletes and teams.

The awards reflect not only individual excellence but also the collective spirit of the Sachem community. Each honoree has played a key role in shaping positive experiences for students, whether through coaching, leadership, or storytelling.

As the community continues to celebrate these accomplishments, the recognition serves as a reminder of the impact dedicated educators, coaches, and mentors can have on the next generation.
