SpringFest 2026 will bring a burst of seasonal energy to the Moriches Branch of the Mastic-Moriches-Shirley Community Library, as residents gather for a day of family-friendly activities and community connection.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, May 9th, from noon to 4 p.m. at 201 Montauk Highway, is designed to welcome participants of all ages with interactive experiences.

“The goal of SpringFest is to create a welcoming, engaging space where families can come together,” said Kerrilynn Jorgensen, branch manager.

Attendees can explore crafts, lawn games, a scavenger hunt and creative stations, including tin can planters, pine cone bird feeders and spring bonnet decorating, leading to a 3 p.m. parade.

Additional attractions include air-powered rocket demonstrations, a plant swap, green screen photo opportunities and a community banner project.

Community partners will also play a major role, with the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department offering Operation Safe Child ID cards and a K-9 demonstration.

Representatives from the Tesla Science Center and United Way of Long Island will participate, while local vendors provide food and artisan goods.

“Events like SpringFest reflect how the library brings people together in meaningful ways,” said Library Director Lonna Castro.

“It’s a great opportunity to highlight everything the library has to offer.”

Library Board President Joseph Maiorana added, “We are proud to support events that strengthen connections and showcase the library’s role.”

The outdoor event is weather permitting, with a rain location set for the main building in Shirley.

SpringFest is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
