Residents, caregivers, and healthcare professionals gathered in Center Moriches this week for an event that was as spirited as it was meaningful.
Oasis Rehabilitation and Nursing hosted its “Ping Pong for Parkinson’s” fundraiser, transforming a simple game into a powerful show of community support for those living with Parkinson’s disease.
The event raised $800 for the Davis Phinney Foundation, an organization dedicated to advancing research and providing resources that help individuals with Parkinson’s lead active, fulfilling lives.
But beyond the dollars raised, the afternoon carried a deeper significance, one felt in every rally, every shared laugh, and every conversation among attendees.
Guests enjoyed friendly competition, a buffet, and prize giveaways, while a lineup of speakers highlighted the importance of awareness, compassion, and specialized care.
Among them were community advocates and healthcare professionals, along with Oasis staff who work closely with patients each day.
“Parkinson’s disease touches the lives of millions, and at Oasis, our Parkinson’s program is built around the belief that specialized, compassionate care truly transforms outcomes for our patients,” said Amy Mahnken, Community Liaison at Oasis Rehabilitation and Nursing.
“Supporting the Davis Phinney Foundation is a natural extension of that commitment. Together, we make a meaningful impact in changing the lives of those living with Parkinson’s.”
That mission is central to Oasis itself. The facility holds the distinction of being the only Certified Parkinson’s Disease Care provider in New York, and one of just nine in the nation, an achievement that reflects its deep commitment to improving quality of life for those navigating the disease.
As paddles tapped and applause filled the room, the spirit of the day lingered: a community coming together not just to raise funds, but to uplift one another and move forward with renewed purpose.
