A newly redesigned program at Hunter Business School is opening doors for students looking to enter one of healthcare’s fastest-growing fields.

The school’s Medical Billing and Coding program has been rebuilt for 2026, reflecting both the rapid expansion of healthcare administration and the increasing demand for skilled professionals who can navigate the business side of medicine. Now offered fully online, the program is designed to provide flexibility while maintaining a strong focus on real-world job readiness.

“We redesigned it from the ground up for 2026, and it’s now offered fully online, making it one of the most accessible and career-ready programs we’ve ever offered,” said Hunter President Jay Fund. “Medical billing is a high-demand field and our program prepares students for real employment fast.”

That demand has only accelerated in the years following the pandemic, as healthcare systems expanded and adapted to new patient needs, insurance requirements, and digital recordkeeping. Medical billing and coding professionals play a critical role in ensuring providers are reimbursed accurately and efficiently, making them essential to the financial health of medical practices and institutions.

Hunter Business School, which has served Long Island since 1972, has long emphasized accelerated, hands-on programs aimed at getting students into the workforce quickly. The revamped billing and coding program continues that tradition, combining technical instruction with practical application so students are prepared to step directly into entry-level roles upon completion.

The school’s strong connections with local employers further enhance those opportunities. Many graduates transition into positions through externships and placement assistance, while others choose to continue their education to expand their credentials and career options.

“As healthcare administration continues to grow, programs like this are becoming an increasingly attractive pathway for those seeking stable, in-demand careers without spending years in traditional degree tracks,” President Fund notes.
