“Hats off and big thanks to Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney and law enforcement officers on all levels, including the Suffolk County Police Department and the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office,” Murray said in a statement.
Authorities recently announced the arrests tied to a large-scale gang operation, the result of coordinated efforts among local, state, and federal partners.
Officials said the investigation targeted dangerous criminal activity and removed individuals believed to pose a serious threat to public safety.
Senator Murray emphasized that such outcomes are only possible when agencies are allowed to work together without restriction.
“This ‘takedown’ shows exactly why we MUST let law enforcement work together to enforce our laws and keep us safe,” he said.
“Our local officials do an amazing job.”The senator also criticized policies he says hinder collaboration between agencies.
“Despite efforts from state lawmakers on the left, who push pro-criminal policies and who are going out of their way to try and prohibit collaboration between local, state and federal law enforcement officials, our law enforcement community continues to deliver results,” Murray said.
Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney and police officials have not only highlighted the scale of the operation but also the extensive coordination required to carry it out.
The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office also played a role in the enforcement efforts.
Murray reiterated his support for law enforcement, saying partnerships remain critical to maintaining safety in communities across Long Island.
“We must continue to support the men and women who put their lives on the line every day,” he said, “and ensure they have the tools and cooperation needed to do their jobs effectively.”
Police and prosecutors said the operation resulted in numerous arrests, the seizure of illegal weapons and narcotics, and the disruption of a network believed to be responsible for a range of violent and organized criminal activities, marking a significant step in ongoing efforts to improve public safety in Suffolk County.
