Bayport Trio Accused in Torture Death of 7-Year-Old Girl

A horrifying child abuse case tied to a Bayport family has stunned Suffolk County after prosecutors accused three generations of women of allegedly torturing and imprisoning a 7-year-old girl before she died from a massive untreated infection.

Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney announced that Emily Kelly, 50, of Bayport, was indicted on murder charges in connection with the death of Jor’Dynn Duncan, a child placed in Kelly’s care by Child Protective Services.

Kelly’s mother, Barbara Renner, 75, and Kelly’s daughter, Elyssa Seymore, 24, were also indicted on related charges stemming from what prosecutors described as months of systematic abuse.

“My office is announcing the indictment against three co-defendants after a lengthy grand jury investigation into the alleged prolonged torture, abuse, and the brutal murder of a defenseless, innocent child,” Tierney said. “This was not an alleged single act of violence. It was months of alleged systematic cruelty and sadistic abuse.”

Authorities said paramedics responded to the Bayport home a few days after Christmas, on Dec. 29th, 2025, after Kelly called 911 claiming the child was suffering cardiac arrest.

Jor’Dynn was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Suffolk in East Patchogue, where she was pronounced dead.

Investigators later discovered roughly 90 injuries across the child’s body, according to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Prosecutors allege cellphone videos and photographs recovered from Kelly’s devices documented prolonged restraint, untreated wounds and repeated abuse dating back nearly a year.

Officials also alleged Jor’Dynn missed about 40 days of school while Kelly allegedly fabricated excuses involving illnesses, family deaths and even a Disney World trip to conceal the abuse.

Kelly is being held on $5 million cash bail and faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted. Renner and Seymore were also ordered held on bail pending the case.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
