Mastic Beach Ambulance Installs Officers at Annual Ceremony

Brookhaven officials and emergency responders gathered Feb. 28 to celebrate the annual Installation of Officers for the Mastic Beach Ambulance Company, honoring the volunteers who provide lifesaving emergency medical services to the community.

The ceremony, held at East Wind Caterers in Wading River, brought together first responders, families, and local leaders to recognize the company’s outgoing leadership and formally install officers for the coming year. Among those attending were Brookhaven Town Councilwoman Karen Dunne Kesnig, Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine and Suffolk County Legislator Jim Mazzarella.

During the event, Dunne Kesnig presented certificates on behalf of the Brookhaven Town Council, acknowledging the dedication of the company’s members and their essential role in protecting residents throughout the area.

“The volunteers of the Mastic Beach Ambulance Company represent the very best of community service,” Dunne Kesnig said. “Their commitment to responding whenever residents need help makes a meaningful difference in the lives of so many families.”

The installation ceremony is a long-standing tradition that highlights the dedication and sacrifice of the ambulance company’s members, who respond to thousands of emergency calls each year.

The Mastic Beach Ambulance Company traces its roots back to 1948, when it was originally established as part of the Mastic Beach Fire Department. In 1987, the ambulance service separated from the fire department in order to focus exclusively on emergency medical response. Since then, the organization has continued to grow while maintaining its mission of providing high-quality care to the community.

Today, the company operates from its facility on Neighborhood Road and serves a coverage area of approximately 11.8 square miles. The district stretches from Moriches Inlet across Fire Island to Old and New Inlets in the south and north to Wavecrest Drive.

Staffed by trained volunteers and professionals, the organization also promotes public health through community outreach, education programs and its Youth Squad, ensuring a continued tradition of service for future generations.
