President Donald Trump’s 2026 State of the Union address drew enthusiastic support from New York State Conservative Party Chairman Gerard “Gerry” Kassar, who said the speech offered a compelling choice for the nation’s future.
In his address Tuesday night, Trump highlighted what he described as broad national progress, telling lawmakers and the American people, “our country is winning again. In fact, we’re winning so much that we really don’t know what to do about it.”
Kassar, whose party has been a key conservative voice in New York politics, released a statement praising the president’s remarks and framing the speech as a clear contrast with progressive policies. “President Trump laid out a bold, bright, common-sense vision for America’s future tonight,” Kassar said. “His optimism in our nation’s potential could be felt by anyone who watched the speech. This is a President who truly believes in everyday Americans, and who sees a clear path forward for them out of the mires of progressivism.” In the statement, Kassar added that Trump “laid out a clear and damning case against the unbridled progressivism that nearly brought this country to its knees under President Joe Biden,” and emphasized that “the two distinct paths for America could not be more stark.” He urged voters in upcoming midterm elections to choose “the America that believes in itself.”
Trump’s address, his first official State of the Union of 2026, touched on economic growth, national security and policy goals ahead of critical midterm elections. The president’s upbeat portrayal of the economy and American strength was a centerpiece of his remarks to Congress, aimed at rallying support among Republicans and persuading undecided voters.
Kassar’s endorsement signals continued backing from conservative leaders as political battles intensify nationwide.
