Here’s how Democrats dominate New York government: they control a political machine powerful enough to pass a $268.5 billion budget, $14 billion larger than last year, and then leverage that money in a system that’s been around for generations.
New York is broken up into thousands of election districts, each having two committee persons. They are responsible for delivering a certain number of ballots every election. The Democrat bosses know exactly how many votes have to come from each district in strongholds such as New York City and other urban areas to elect people like Gov. Hochul every time.
It doesn’t matter what the issues are, what kind of campaign the opponents run, or how much money they spend. X amount of votes in X amount of districts, with a little margin of error built in, will win for the Democrats every time.
Now, these committee members, zone leaders and political bosses who manage them aren’t just anyone. They are people who have been living off the taxpayers for generations. They have government jobs, their kids have government jobs, their grandkids have jobs. They are also lawyers, accountants, business people and consultants who have contracts, such as studying why people jump subway turnstiles, that cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
The largesse that flows to these vote wranglers doesn’t just come from the state; billions are spent by the City of New York, a municipality so poorly managed that it required a $4 billion bailout from Albany.
The big secret is that these operatives don’t just get people to go to the polls. They also harvest ballots, millions of which are printed and distributed to vacant lots, people who have moved to other states and those who have died. If the voters they need don’t turn out on Election Day, no worry—here’s a bunch of ballots to make up the difference.
As the electorate gets wise to this scheme, the Democrats have a backup plan: illegal immigrants. After giving them a free ride across the border and showering them with cash, cell phones, food, legal services and housing better than homeless citizens and veterans, it’s quite easy to get them to fill out a ballot. This is why the Democrats are adamantly against voter ID and barring non-citizens from voting, and it’s a damned shame that Republicans in the Senate will not pass the Save America Act.
Elections are just a formality in New York. With the system Democrats have developed over the decades, and the billions of taxpayer dollars they have to fuel it, nothing will beat them—and they know it.
