Four members of the William Floyd High School varsity indoor track team have earned postseason honors following their performances at the Section XI state qualifying competition held on February 9-10. The student-athletes—Allana Morgan, Angelle Sainteus, Brianna Smith, and Coral Macchia—represented the school under head coach John Ryan.

Allana Morgan secured the league championship in the triple jump and recorded a distance of 36 feet 10.5 inches, which is the second-best in school history. She matched this distance at the state qualifiers but narrowly missed advancing to the State Championships. “For her efforts, she earned All-County (Large School), All-Sectional and All-League honors.”

Angelle Sainteus competed in the 300-meter event, Brianna Smith in the 1,000-meter race, and Coral Macchia in the frosh/soph 1,500-meter run. Although they did not advance to states, each received All-League honors for their achievements.

Other notable performances during the season included scoring contributions at the League Championship Meet from athletes such as Jazz Paul and Melissa Alvarado-Martinez. The 4x200-meter relay team—comprising Samantha Seaman, Allana Morgan, Camille Obi, and Angelle Sainteus—posted a season-best time of 1:51.76. At the County Championship Meet, Coral Macchia ran a season-best time of 5:19 in her event, automatically qualifying her for the Long Island Elite Meet scheduled for February 28.

At this upcoming meet, William Floyd will be represented by several athletes across various events: Allana Morgan qualified in three events—the triple jump (36’10.5”), long jump (16’1.25”), and 300m (44.66); Angelle Sainteus in the 300m (43.79); Samantha Seaman in the 300m (44.25); Brianna Smith in the 1,000m (3:17.65); Jazz Paul in triple jump (33’2.5”); Camille Obi in frosh/soph 300m (46.47); and Coral Macchia in frosh/soph 1,500m (5:19:38). The team also qualified for both relay events.
