The Suffolk County Police Department is accepting applications for a provisional Data Base Manager position, offering a high-paying opportunity for qualified technology professionals seeking stable public-sector employment.

According to the department, the Data Base Manager will perform specialized, hands-on technical work related to the daily management, analysis and performance tuning of departmental databases. The role is critical to maintaining the efficiency, reliability and security of the data systems that support police operations across Suffolk County. Responsibilities include monitoring database performance, addressing system issues and ensuring data integrity for departmental use.

Applicants must meet specific education and experience requirements. Qualified candidates include individuals who have earned a master’s degree and possess at least three years of computer programming experience, including a minimum of one year focused on database management and design. Alternatively, candidates with a bachelor’s degree must have at least five years of computer programming experience, also including at least one year in database management and design.

The position offers a starting salary of $108,733. In addition to competitive pay, benefits include medical insurance, with an annual employee cost of $2,564, as well as dental and optical coverage. Employees are eligible for enrollment in the New York State Retirement System and may also participate in a deferred compensation plan, providing long-term financial security.

The job is full-time, with a Monday through Friday schedule and a two-tour shift.
