Coming off the huge success of its holiday toy drive, the Town of Brookhaven is once again mobilizing residents to help neighbors in need, this time through its annual winter coat drive.

Supervisor Dan Panico announced that Brookhaven’s Youth Bureau INTERFACE Coat Drive will run from January 9 through February 6, collecting new and gently used coats to support individuals and families facing the winter cold.

“Each donation to this drive gives the gift of warmth to those in need,” Panico said. “The continued success of this program reflects the generosity and compassion of our residents.”

Donations may be dropped off at several locations, including Brookhaven Town Hall in Farmingville, the Highway Department in Coram, the Henrietta Acampora Recreation Center in Blue Point, the New Village Recreation Center in Centereach, the Rose Caracappa Senior Center in Mount Sinai, the Brookhaven Town Vehicle Control Building in Patchogue, the Brookhaven Town Parks and Recreation Department in Centereach, and the Village of Lake Grove Hall and Recreation Building.

Approximately 100 corporations, not-for-profit agencies, and fraternal organizations participate in INTERFACE, making it one of the Town’s most wide-reaching community support initiatives.

Residents seeking more information about the coat drive or the INTERFACE program can contact the Youth Bureau at 631-451-8026 or visit brookhavenny.gov.

Don't Expect Bregman to Pay Off

This week, one of the bigger names in the free agency cycle signed with the Chicago Cubs, and fantasy managers everywhere sighed. Usually, anyone heading to Wrigley Field is viewed as a positive, but for Alex Bregman, more information has emerged suggesting this move could spell trouble for his fantasy outlook. Bregman is a right-handed pull hitter who previously played in two of the more favorable home parks for that profile in Houston and Boston. Both parks feature short left-field dimensions that reward pulled fly balls and help inflate power numbers.

Futures Bettors Will Be Smiling

The College Football Championship is set, and it pits two of the more unlikely teams against each other. Indiana may have the largest living alumni base in the country, with more than 800,000 graduates, but few expected the Hoosiers to reach this stage. They feature zero five-star recruits and have instead relied on depth, discipline, and consistency while dominating all season long.
