Student musicians across the Center Moriches School District wrapped up the year on a high note, filling auditoriums with music, energy, and holiday spirit during a series of well-attended winter concerts.

Across three evenings of performances, students from the elementary, middle, and high school levels showcased their talents, drawing families, friends, and community members together to celebrate the season and the district’s strong commitment to music education.

The performances opened with the Clayton Huey Elementary School winter concert. Young performers took the stage with confidence and enthusiasm, delighting the audience with cheerful holiday selections that reflected their growing musical abilities and joy for performing.

Middle School students performed in the district’s new high school auditorium. The concert highlighted a wide range of musical styles and demonstrated the students’ increasing skill, discipline, and poise as performers.

The series concluded on December 18 with the High School winter concert. Musicians delivered a polished and expressive performance, featuring more advanced arrangements that reflected years of practice and dedication to their craft.

“These concerts are a wonderful reminder of the talent, hard work, and creativity of our students,” said Dr. Ricardo Soto, district superintendent. “We are grateful to our music teachers, staff, and families for their continued support in making these performances such a meaningful part of our school community.”

The annual winter concerts remain a cherished tradition, celebrating student achievement and bringing the community together through music.

Is There a New Ace in Town?

The New York Mets have a new ace, and fantasy owners have been accustomed to viewing Freddy Peralta as a near-ace for some time. The move to a more pitcher-friendly park should help, but do not overreach, because the reality is that the lineup around him is roughly the same and the bullpen is likely worse at protecting his leads. Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
