Brookhaven launches website for Vision Zero community engagement

Daniel J. Panico Town Superviso | Town of Brookhaven

Brookhaven Highway Superintendent Daniel Losquadro has introduced a new website to involve the community in developing a Townwide Vision Zero Action Plan. The purpose of this strategy is to eradicate traffic-related deaths and grave injuries on Town-owned roads by 2045.

The Town is formulating an action plan using the Safe System Approach, backed by the Federal Highway Administration. This approach seeks improvements through safer roads, safer speeds, safer people, safer vehicles, and better post-crash care.

The planning process includes analyzing data on crashes, speed trends, traffic volumes, infrastructure conditions, and demographics. These analyses will inform the strategic plan, setting long-term objectives and actionable measures for enhancing road safety.

Superintendent Losquadro stated, "I would like to encourage residents to visit the project website at www.BrookhavenVisionZero.com to engage via the interactive map and community questionnaire." He added, "Please be encouraged to have a hand in ending fatalities and serious injuries on our roadways."

Is There a New Ace in Town?

The New York Mets have a new ace, and fantasy owners have been accustomed to viewing Freddy Peralta as a near-ace for some time. The move to a more pitcher-friendly park should help, but do not overreach, because the reality is that the lineup around him is roughly the same and the bullpen is likely worse at protecting his leads. Peralta has been a standout for years, and slotting him in as a high-value fantasy arm is easy. The question is just how high he should go.
