High school and elementary students collaborate in buddy program

Buddy program at William Floyd Middle School | WFSD

Throughout the academic year, students from William Floyd High School and John S. Hobart Elementary School have engaged in a collaborative buddy program.

The initiative involves high school students from Mrs. Lauren Heuer’s School to Work class partnering with Mr. Josh Young’s elementary class for monthly activities.

The collaboration aims to foster friendships and enhance skills among students.

Activities included a snowmaking science experiment in January and celebrating the 100th day of school in February with Kopa, a therapy dog owned by Mr. and Mrs. Zelin. In March, participants created St. Patrick’s Day-themed sun catchers.

Mrs. Heuer highlighted the leadership development among her high school students through this program and expressed satisfaction witnessing their bonds with younger peers.

She stated that every participant gains valuable educational experiences.
