The annual Artists, Authors, and Editors celebration by the College of Arts and Sciences at Stony Brook University honored faculty for their creative and scholarly achievements. Held on November 22 at the Hilton Garden Inn Stony Brook, the event showcased over 50 works from various fields including arts, humanities, sciences, and health.
David Wrobel, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, expressed his enthusiasm: “I’m thrilled to celebrate this important event with you, as celebrating the arts is extremely important to me.” He emphasized the significance of gathering to recognize community accomplishments.
Author Jennifer Epstein's novel "The Madwomen of Paris" was featured at the event. She remarked on the honor: “It was an honor to have my novel The Madwomen of Paris featured in the Artists, Authors and Editors celebration.” Her work has been nominated for a 2024 Edgar Allan Poe Award.
Joanna Wuest, a new faculty member in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies (WGSS), found the event valuable for introducing her book "Born This Way: Science, Citizenship, and Inequality in the American LGBTQ+ Movement." She said it was “a wonderful way to share my new book and to learn about what others have recently accomplished.”
Wrobel also discussed preserving Stony Brook’s creative legacy: “Every work published by a member of our faculty or staff should be in the library in a permanent collection devoted to the authorship and creative activity of our faculty and staff.”
The celebration highlighted collaboration across departments while emphasizing community strength through shared achievements.
