The Patchogue Medford Red Raiders had placed second in league I with a 6-2 league record and a 12-3-1 overall, clinching a wild card berth as they will prove to be a tough out for anyone in their way this postseason as the number 5 seed.
Right behind the Raiders in the League I standings was William Floyd as the Colonials will be the 9 seed as they finished 8-7-1. They will take on the 8 seed Northport to see who will take on first seeded Brentwood.
The Ward Melville Patriots Boys Soccer team was once again dominant as they finished with a 7-0-1 league record while finishing 11-2-2 this fall. They will be a top seed in the Suffolk County Soccer Playoffs and favorite to make it to the county finals following a League II title.
In League IV, Smithtown East had an incredible season as they would run away with the league title. The East Siders finished 7-1-0 in league play while finishing with an impressive 13-1-0 overall record.
In League V, the Smithtown West Boys were just as impressive as their neighbors to the east as they finished with zero losses on the season, clinching a league title as well and looking like a team to beat in the upcoming postseason matches.
Other notable teams that made it to the 2023 boys postseason round were Center Moriches, Shoreham Wading River, and Hauppauge.
On the girls side, Division I was highlighted by a spectacular season by the Ward Melville Girls Soccer team as they finished unbeaten with a 13-0-2 record this season. They appear to once again be the team to beat in Suffolk County and are a heavy favorite to win the Suffolk County Girls Soccer title.
Not too far behind in League I, the Sachem East Girls Soccer team would finish 11-1-2 which was tied for second with Commack and they will be a tough Wild Card team to beat this postseason.
Smithtown East and Patchogue-Medford also made late pushes as they were also able to secure winning seasons and sneak into the big dance.
League II saw Smithtown West have a great season as the Bulls had a remarkable season as they finished 10-1-0 in league play and 11-2 overall. The Girls Soccer team finished second behind a strong West Islip team, but they are in a similar boat as Sachem East as they will be a really tough out as a Wild Card team.
Eastport South Manor finished 10-4-0 overall this season in League II and they will also be another team that could shock everyone this year in the County Playoffs.
In League III, the Kings Park Knights dominated as they finished 12-1-1 in League play and 12-2-1 overall this season. They will be vying for a chance to shock everyone and run away with a county title this fall.
Shoreham Wading River finished second in the league behind the Knights with a 10-2-2 record this fall and they will join a lengthy list of wild card teams that will be tough outs.
The postseason for the boys and girls teams are set, the next few weeks will be considered some of the most exciting soccer matches of the year. We here at the South Shore Press wish every team the best of luck as the postseason begins this week.
