Another year of high school football has come and gone in Suffolk County and it was time to look back at the year it was while honoring the best individuals to play this season. The South Shore Press would now like to take some time to congratulate those who received the recognitions of All County or received any individual accolades at the awards dinner that took place following the Long Island Championship.

Besides falling just short of winning a Long Island Championship, William Floyd had an extremely strong season that was highlighted with a Suffolk County Division 1 Championship and seeing six players receive All County Honors.

Junior Wide Receiver Geo Alvares, Senior Linebacker Wally Crane, Senior Kicker and Safety Caiden Lesiewicz, Senior Linebacker Javon Delaney, Junior Lineman Aaron Fisher, and Junior Lineman Derek Amato all took home the honors for the Colonials following their strong season on the Gridiron.

“These guys have been dedicated and put in incredible amounts of hard work to receive this honor,” said Coach Paul Longo. “All throughout the offseason and up to now it is evident that these (six) guys are absolutely deserving of this honor.”

Outside of Jack Melore winning the Paul Longo Award for Long Island's Best Wide Receiver, the Smithtown West Bulls had two All-County Honorees this season as both Melore and Quarterback Brayden Stahl were named to the All-County Team for the second consecutive season.

Despite not seeing as much team success as their cross town rivals, one of the more under-appreciated Running Backs in the county was able to get the recognition he deserved as Lucas Santangelo of Smithtown East was named to the All County team following a 1000 yard season where he carried the Bulls offense for most of the season.

Following what may be one of their best seasons in a few years, Center Moriches saw two of their superstars make the All County team as star Running Back Matt Albino saw his historic season end with an All County nod while Wide Receiver Xavier Bryant also found himself on the All County team following a productive season for the Red Devils.

Port Jefferson’s football team saw only one All County nod this fall as their Quarterback Ryan Fillippi received his spot on the All County team.

Ward Melville’s rich history of sports success continued as the football team made it to the county semi-finals thanks to the efforts of Wide Receiver Brody Morgan, Quarterback Ethan Burgos, and Linebacker/Running Back Griffin Kramer, who all received All County Honors.

Longwood Football also had a very successful season as their ground and pound offense led them on a deep playoff run. Their offense was led by All County Running back and Cipp Award Finalist Nnamdi Nwanyanwu.

Nwanyanwu had a complete season for the Lions as he posted 926 rushing yards with 11 touchdowns while averaging 5.68 yards per carry.

Lineman Clint Chichester and Quarterback Caleib Corbett also received All County efforts for their successful seasons for the Longwood Lions.
