The Miller Place Panthers defeated Islip, 4-1, for the Suffolk County Class A County Championship this weekend.

The Panthers won their first title since 2021, a championship that star pitcher Ava Zicchinelli was a part of. This time Zicchinelli was front and center for the Panthers and delivered the win.

Zicchinelli held Islip to only four hits and no earned runs. She added seven strikeouts in her complete game effort. It wasn't just on the mound as she went 2 for 3 with a run scored as well. The big blow came early in the game as Emily Lopez hit a two run home run to give Miller Place the lead and Brooke Borkowski gunned down a runner at the plate to keep them in front.

Miller Place finished the season as the #3 overall seed but beat Islip twice and split the season series to make them champions.
