Bauer Wins Player of the Month

Trevor Bauer | Michael Polak

Trevor Bauer arrived on Long Island with an impressive résumé, but over the past month he has added another chapter to his baseball story while making a major impact with the Long Island Ducks. This week, Bauer was named the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball's Pitcher of the Month for May after a dominant start to the 2026 season.

The Ducks right-hander was outstanding during the league’s opening month, making six starts and compiling a 4-1 record with a stellar 2.43 ERA. Bauer struck out 56 batters while walking just seven over 37 innings of work. He also allowed only 11 runs, 10 of them earned, while posting an impressive 0.97 WHIP.

Despite missing the final two weeks of May due to injury, Bauer continues to rank among the Atlantic League’s leaders. He currently leads the league in WHIP, ranks second in both ERA and strikeouts, and is tied for third in victories.

One of Bauer’s most memorable performances came on April 26 when he threw just the third no-hitter in Long Island Ducks history during the first game of a doubleheader against Lancaster. Bauer walked only one batter and struck out seven while tossing seven scoreless innings.

He followed that performance with another historic outing on May 12 against Gastonia. Bauer set a new Ducks franchise record by striking out 15 batters over eight innings in a 6-3 victory. In all six of his starts this season, Bauer has recorded at least seven strikeouts, and he has reached double-digit strikeouts twice.

The honor marks the first time a Ducks pitcher has been named Atlantic League Pitcher of the Month since Stephen Woods Jr. earned the award in April/May 2023. Bauer is also the first Ducks player to receive a monthly league honor since Jackie Bradley Jr. was recognized in July 2024.

“Congratulations to Trevor on this well-deserved honor,” said Ducks Manager Lew Ford. “His performance on the mound thus far has been historic, and he’s been an integral part of our team’s success.”
