An organization that promotes a high quality of life for Suffolk residents, the Rocky Point Civic Association, swore in a new board of directors at a recent ceremony conducted by Councilwoman Jane Bonner.

“We strive to keep the residents well informed of the issues of the day and work with our government leaders to help maintain a high quality of life for our communities,” said the association’s president, Gary Pollakusky.

“As a long-time member of the association, I’m impressed by the hard work and commitment of the current leadership,” Councilwoman Bonner said. “These are outstanding citizens who devote considerable time and effort to help their community, and I’m very proud of them.”

Joining Pollakusky in the group’s leadership are Vice President Jennifer Hald, Secretary Tom Buttacavoli, Kathy Weber, Membership Secretary, Tina Bogart, Sergeant at Arms, and trustees Leah Buttacovoli, Alicia Palifka, and Quentin Palifka.

The association meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the VFW Hall on Prince Road off Broadway in beautiful downtown Rocky Point, Pollakusky noted. “We welcome everyone who wants to join us in keeping our area a great place to live.”

Horses heeling children gets a donation

Pal-O-Mine Equestrian, a nonprofit organization that provides comprehensive therapeutic equine programs using horses to facilitate growth, learning, and healing for children and adults with disabilities, individuals on the autism spectrum, veterans, and others, announced that the Clark Gillies Foundation has donated $7,500 to support scholarships for students in financial need.
