New Board Takes the Helm

A new board has been sworn in for the Sound Beach Civic Association: Patty Blasberg, Joan Russo, Charlotte Karpf-Fritts, Bea Ruberto, and Vera Ronning.

Town of Brookhaven Clerk Kevin Lavalle presided over the swearing in ceremony, which took place at the Sound Beach Fire Department.

“During the meeting, I was pleased to participate and discuss the workings of the Town Clerk's office, how the office can help our residents with their needs, and how I am in the process of improving our services to be more accessible to our residents. Also, had an interesting conversation on various other issues going on in the community,” said Lavalle.

Record Setting Maggie McCormick Competes at Nationals

The Bay Shore Schools Board of Education recently recognized and congratulated girls varsity cross country standout Maggie McCormick for her outstanding achievements on the track and on the national stage. McCormick, who has committed to the University of Florida, was honored for her performance at the Nike Cross Country Nationals, one of the most prestigious high school running events in the country.
