Mustangs Racing To The Next Chapter

Jess Joe Augustine received the Tony Toro MVP trophy. That award goes to the Top Runner for Suffolk County. Tyler Zahra was honored with the Ed Nook award, which goes to the Top Thrower in Suffolk County and Eric Giorlando was named Coach of the Year for his work with the Boys Track team.

Marlboro Runs Past Miller Place To Win The State Title

The Marlboro Dukes are the New York State Softball Champions. The Dukes defeated Miller Place 4-1 on Saturday at Martha Field in Bellport to capture the title. The Dukes ran their way to victory with aggressive base stealing and fast play all game long. Miller Place didn't go down without a fight, but in the end they couldn't keep pace with the Dukes running game.

Suffolk Champs Now Eye The State's

This season the varsity boys track team won the title of undefeated League Champions.On their way to the championship they set records as well. Team member Sean O'Neill set the record in the 4x800 at St. Anthony High School's Icahn Stadium earlier this season, while the 4x800 relay team with Justin Albanese, Cooper Nedvin, Sean O'Neill and Paul Zorn clinched the school record.

On a sun drenched field this morning the Miller Place girls softball team shined the brightest in advancing to the New York State Finals. After defeating Pittsford Sutherland 4-1 they now will be back on Martha Avenue Field to battle for the ultimate title.

Eastport-South Manor Welcomes Home Their AD

Hayes currently serves as the director of athletics, health and physical education at the South Country Central School District and has had that position since 2022. A Sayville resident, he started his career as a leave replacement physical education teacher in the Eastport-South Manor Central School District, transferring to the Longwood Central School District in 2012 where he taught physical education at the elementary and secondary levels until 2022.

What A Week For William Floyd Track

Coach John Ryan watched as his athletes dominated the field. Zariel Macchia qualified for the state competition in the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter runs. She also earned individual championships in the 800-meter, the 1,500-meter and the 3,000-meter.

Relay Teams Race To Records

Both of the teams set new school records at the New York State Championship qualifying meets. The boys' team of Terrell Collum, Isaiah Taylor, Tyri Hubbard and Matteo Higueros, set the standard first with a time of 3:26.04 seconds. With that mark they easily beat the previous mark set in 2021. Their time was more than two seconds slower and they are the new record holders.

No MAY-be ... Schwindel Owns The Month

The first baseman led all qualified Atlantic League players during the month of May with a .386 batting average. Schwindel amassed 32 hits in just 83 at bats, and his 1.139 OPS ranked second in the league. He has carried the Ducks offense early on leading the team in May in home runs, RBIs, runs, walks, on base percentage and slugging percentage.

Let's Cash Those Celtics Tickets

The Boston Celtics are supposed to be here. They were the preseason conference favorites and didn't disappoint. Boston upped their game once they hit the postseason with a 12-2 playoff record after dominating the regular slate of games. Boston won 64 games with the league's top ranked offense, scoring 123 points per game, and the #3 overall defense, holding teams to just over 111 points per game. They also don't seem to care about the venue because they have an 8 game road winning streak going for them as well.

Suffolk Baseball Reigns Supreme

The Kings Park Kingsmen were the first team to punch their ticket as Long Island champs when they defeated Clarke 3-2 this weekend. The Kingsmen won in dramatic fashion as a 9th inning walk off balk was called to hand them the title.

The Panthers Claw To A Long Island Championship

The Miller Place softball team continues to win and now they are headed to the state tournament. The Panthers won their first Suffolk County title since 2021 last week and now will play for the state title. After defeating Islip 4-1 and winning the Suffolk County Class A championship they continued their winning ways with a 7-4 victory over Seaford to capture the Long Island Championship.

Weeks is a National Champion

The #2 seeded Eagles came back from a 6-0 deficit and went on to defeat the reigning champion Wildcats, who were ranked #1 in the nation. The 14-13 final gave the Eagles the NCAA Division 1 championship and their second national championship in seven straight trips to the title game.This was revenge for BC as Northwestern beat them badly last season 18-6 in the title game.

Sachem Softball Sets Their Sights On State Title

Sachem East softball made history this week as they captured their first ever Long Island Championship. Sachem East defeated Oceanside in a big time pitchers dual 2-0 to secure the title. Once again Sachem relied heavily on their superstar pitcher Olivia DeRose, and she did not disappoint. DeRose allowed just five hits to go along with her eight strikeouts in the shutout. DeRose has now pitched back to back to back shutouts en route to a Suffolk County championship and now the Long Island crown. She has not allowed a run in the past three games and her win total is at an outstanding 18 for the season.

The Mustangs Race To A Three Peat

The team won their third consecutive County Championship title. The team was led by first place finishes from Jess Joe Augustine in the 3200 meter, 1600 meter and 3000 Steeplechase. Liam Metzler took home first in the Long Jump. Tyler Zahra won the Shot Put and Johnny Cuomo also secured first place in the Pole Vault.

SWR Has An MVP

Votruba's stats jumped off the page this season both with the bat, but especially with his pitching prowess. Votruba amassed a 5-2 record on the hill to go along with his 1.65 ERA. In his 46 innings pitched he struck out 52 batters and his pinpoint control led to him walking on 3 batters all season long.

The team finished the regular season 6-1 overall and 6-1 in division. They outscored their opponents 52-11 in dominating fashion.
