A Selden man has pleaded guilty to felony charges stemming from a hit-and-run crash that killed a local pedestrian last year, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney announced.

Lan Huynh Truong, 45, admitted to leaving the scene of an incident without reporting, resulting in death, as well as operating a motor vehicle without a license, a traffic infraction.

He faces sentencing on August 12th, when prosecutors will seek the maximum penalty allowed under current state law: 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison.

According to prosecutors, Truong was driving a 2016 Toyota Camry northbound on Boyle Road in Selden at approximately 11:21 a.m. on November 5th, 2025, when he swerved onto the right shoulder and struck Victoria Hutson, 37, of Selden, who was walking along the roadway.

Authorities said Truong exited his vehicle after the collision but did not call 911 or attempt to obtain medical assistance. Instead, prosecutors said, he dragged Hutson from the roadway onto the shoulder and fled the scene. Good Samaritans later stopped and attempted to render aid, but Hutson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police located Truong’s vehicle behind his home later that day. Investigators observed blood on the windshield, passenger-side door and passenger-side window. Testing by the Suffolk County Crime Laboratory later confirmed the blood belonged to Hutson, according to prosecutors.

Truong was arrested the following day.

District Attorney Tierney sharply criticized the defendant’s actions and the penalties available under state law for fatal hit-and-run cases.

“After hitting Victoria Hutson with his car, this defendant dragged her body off of the roadway and left her to die without reporting the incident to police or rendering any form of aid,” Tierney said.

Prosecutors noted Truong previously was convicted of aggravated driving while intoxicated in 2016 and driving while intoxicated in 2012.
