Four Sachem seniors receive Suffolk County Zone Awards for leadership and excellence

Four seniors from Sachem Central School District were recognized on May 9 as Suffolk County Zone Award winners by the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance. The award honors students who excel in academics, leadership, character, and wellness.

The recipients are Hannah Barkin and Dominick Rienzi from Sachem East High School, and Henry Sarro and Alyssa Tappin from Sachem North High School. The awards highlight students who show strong academic performance, positive leadership skills, and a commitment to healthy living both inside and outside the classroom.

Zone Award recipients are chosen for maintaining high academic standards while contributing positively to their school communities. Honorees are recognized for demonstrating teamwork, responsibility, service, and sportsmanship. They serve as role models through their dedication to personal growth and wellness.

The NYSAHPERD Suffolk Zone Awards recognize students across Suffolk County who embody the organization’s mission of promoting healthy lifestyles, leadership abilities among youth leaders in health education programs.
