The Town of Brookhaven honored a group of accomplished women during its annual Women’s Recognition Awards ceremony held at Town Hall, celebrating individuals whose work has had a lasting impact across the community.
The event, hosted in the Brookhaven Town Hall Auditorium, was emceed by News 12 anchor Antoinette Biordi and drew local officials, community leaders and residents for an evening highlighting leadership and service. More than a dozen women were recognized, representing fields including medicine, law enforcement, the arts, science and government.
Each honoree was selected for her dedication and contributions to improving the lives of residents throughout Long Island, with officials emphasizing the diverse ways women continue to shape the region’s future.
Among those recognized was Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, whose decades-long career in public service earned special praise. Brookhaven Town Supervisor Dan Panico described Carpenter as “an icon of public service,” pointing to her consistent leadership and commitment to the communities she serves.
The ceremony also marked a significant milestone for Brookhaven’s Women’s Services Division, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Since its founding, the division has played a key role in supporting women, offering resources and programs while recognizing individuals who have made meaningful contributions to society.
Town officials said the division’s ongoing work continues to highlight the importance of women’s voices in civic, cultural and professional spaces.
Panico said the annual awards program remains an important tradition for Brookhaven, both in honoring achievements and encouraging future leaders.
“Recognizing the achievements of these remarkable women not only honors their work but inspires future generations to lead, serve, and innovate,” he said.
The ceremony concluded with a call to continue supporting and elevating women’s accomplishments across all sectors of the community.
